What is Drive Pickleball?

Drive is owned and operated by husband and wife, Dale and Marianne. We met in high school and married in 1982. We are a small business devoted to making top performing pickleball paddles. We set out to innovate, not copy all the others. Our paddles are made entirely in New Berlin, WI with materials from USA based companies.

Your paddle will be made-to-order from our selection of 16 colors, 2 styles, 3 shapes, and 3 handle colors. Add to that, 2 connector colors and you have 336 potential combinations. Choose the look that drives you!

WHY IS IT CALLED DRIVE?

The DRIVE Pickleball brand was inspired by our passion for classic cars. The word drive has the added benefit of having several obvious associations with the game itself.

We believe we have one of the most well-designed brand logos in Pickleball. See if you can identify the three design elements in the logo that relate to cars and Pickleball. Hint: one is easy, the other two will take an auto enthusiast.

WHY BUY A DRIVE PADDLE?

We are a micro-manufacturer of pickleball paddles amongst many established companies, including a handful of large manufacturers who dominate the market. They got there by spending a lot of money on research and development (R&D), automation, and industrial equipment. That equipment makes it possible to make hundreds of paddles of the same model. Nothing wrong with that, automation is fascinating. As you would expect, with those resources, the global brands make great paddles.

At Drive Pickleball, we also make a great paddle. It could be said Dale is the R&D department (he did the research and developed the product.) Every paddle starts with raw materials; there are no pre-assembled paddle parts that were manufactured somewhere else. No automation is used; instead, they are crafted one at a time using a host of what he calls Special Purpose Equipment; or SPEq [spek] These are not just jigs. This equipment, which Dale made, allows each step of the process to be repeated with accuracy. Our attention to detail is high.

MADE FOR YOU

At the very start of the process, your name is written on the paddle face material with a marker. It will remain there until all components are shaped and hand fit together. After many steps, (42 to 50 depending on the style) the marker is cleaned off the completed paddle and replaced by an adhesive label with your name. The paddle is truly made for you! And with 16 color choices, 2 styles, 3 models, and a variety of reclaimed wood handle possibilities, you can own a paddle that won’t look like the other players that “have the DRIVE”.
